Overview
You may want users to complete a Capability Review first, then complete a Pathway before gaining access to their Focus Behaviors on the Performance Dashboard.
When configured correctly:
- Users receive their Capability Review first.
- Focus Behaviors remain hidden until the assigned Pathway is completed.
- Focus Behaviors automatically become available after Pathway completion.
- Existing users already enrolled in the Pathway are not affected when additional users are enrolled later.
Before You Begin
Verify that the following Pathway setting is enabled:
Disable recommendations until pathway is complete? = Yes
This setting suppresses Focus Behaviors and recommendations until the assigned Pathway has been completed.
Note: If users will always complete a Capability Review before starting a Pathway, this setting can remain enabled permanently. There is no need to change it after launch.
Configuration Steps
Step 1: Configure the Pathway
- Open the Pathway.
- Locate the setting Disable recommendations until pathway is complete?
- Set the value to Yes.
- Save the Pathway.
Step 2: Assign and Schedule the Pathway
- Assign the Pathway to the appropriate audience.
- Schedule the Pathway launch date and time to occur after the Capability Review launch date and time.
Important: If your site sends automated Pathway enrollment notifications, scheduling the Pathway after the Capability Review ensures users receive the Capability Review notification first.
Step 3: Assign and Schedule the Capability Review
- Assign the Capability Review to the same audience.
- Schedule the review launch date and time to occur before the Pathway launch date and time.
This will trigger the user's first platform notification and allow them to complete their review before beginning the Pathway.
User Experience
Step 1: Capability Review Launches
The user's Capability Review is scheduled to launch on June 3 at 9:00 AM.
After completing the review, the user can access their Performance Dashboard. However, Focus Behaviors are not yet displayed because the Pathway has not launched or has not been completed.
Step 2: Pathway Launches
The Pathway is scheduled to launch on June 3 at 9:30 AM.
The user receives a notification (if enabled) and can begin the Pathway. While the Pathway remains incomplete, Focus Behaviors and recommendations continue to be hidden.
Step 3: Pathway Completed
Once the user completes the Pathway, Focus Behaviors and recommendations automatically become available on the Performance Dashboard.
No additional administrator action is required.
Enrolling Additional Users
If additional users are enrolled after the initial launch:
- Existing users retain their current progress and completion status.
- Users who have already completed the Pathway continue to have access to their Focus Behaviors.
- Users who have not yet completed the Pathway remain subject to the configured Pathway requirements.
Adding new users does not reset or alter progress for existing users.
